Aretha Franklin, who began her singing career at her daddy’s New Bethel Baptist church in Detroit at age 10, died Thursday. She was 76.

Once, at a punk rock show in Kentucky, the lead singer of a Nashville band lamented the small turnout of the crowd. “I think Kentucky is more Southern than Tennessee,” he said. 

Now that the Summer (Challenge) is over, maybe we can find some time to talk about something other than music. Like food.
