Coming Winter 2026: A Green Hills Branch for Nashville's Future
The Green Hills Branch Library will close for a full renovation — the first in 25 years — beginning January 4, 2026, with an anticipated reopening in winter 2026.
We’re creating a new experience at this location to better serve our Green Hills customers.
In fact, more than 600 people participated in the public input phase of this project to share ideas for a transformed Green Hills branch — and the renovation includes improvements the community has called for, such as a new children’s area, additional meeting spaces, and more.
Here’s what customers need to know and do, ahead of the renovation.
If You Have Pending Holds
Please select a different pickup location for any pending holds:
- Log in to your library account.
- Navigate to My Account > Titles On Hold > Physical Materials.
- Under Pending Holds, for any titles with pickup branch Green Hills,
select Change Pickup Loc. (at right of title info). - Use the dropdown menu to select a new branch from which to retrieve your hold.
- Select the blue Change Location button.
For future holds, both ahead of and during the temporary closure, you will choose your alternate pickup location upon your initial request. You'll be reminded of this as you place new holds: as of December 15, Green Hills branch is not an option in the pickup locations dropdown menu you see when you place holds on items.
During The Renovation
We look forward to serving customers online and at NPL’s other locations during the renovation of Green Hills branch.
And remember: hundreds of free events and programs continue at NPL locations across Davidson County — including Edgehill Branch Library, located about three miles from the Green Hills branch.
