Proctoring

Test proctoring is available for free at area libraries. Appointments must be scheduled at least a week in advance.

Guidelines for Proctoring Appointments

  • You are responsible for sending the proctor's information to your school. Make sure the school approves the library as a testing site before you start.
  • Proctoring is by appointment only. Appointments must be made at least 7 days in advance.
  • We can proctor school exams as well as simple certification exams that do not require expertise (real estate exams, appraisal exams, even some medical certification exams).
  • Exams that require specialized software on computers must be done on personal equipment. Library computers cannot be used for installation of software.
  • You must bring a current government or school ID to confirm your identity prior to your test.

How Proctoring Works

Request an Appointment

Proctors can provide up to two (2) hour exams. If you have specific needs for your test, please indicate this in your request so that you can be provided the proper testing environment.

  1. Fill out our scheduling form. Appointments must be scheduled at least a week in advance.
  2. If we are able to accommodate the request, a NPL staff member will reach out to confirm details and will reserve a space for the exam.

Before Your Test

  • You must confirm that proctor information is given to your testing institution.
  • You must verify that all preparations have been made to proctor the exam and that proctors are given information on how to submit a completed exam.

On Test Day

  • Arrive for your test at least fifteen (15) minutes before your exam's start time.
  • The proctor will ensure the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test taking environment.

After Your Test is Finished

  • After a paper exam: Library staff will scan and retain your exam until the institution confirms the exam is complete.
  • After an online exam: The student is responsible for submission of the results in presence of the proctor.
