Chances are, if you've spent any time in a children's picture book room, you've seen a Todd Parr book. They are always colorful and eye-catching. My favorite part about them though, is their positivity and love that they give. Todd Parr doesn't care who you are or what makes you stand out, as long as you are showing love. "Love your grin. Love your skin. Love the bees. Love the trees. Love giving a hand. Love taking a stand. LOVE THE WORLD!" [[nid:6010]]
Another reason I love Todd Parr is that he is so inclusive. If you look, in each of his books, people aren't a certain skin color. The illustrations show orange people, green people, and even blue people! With these illustrations, it's not so hard for any child to see themselves as one of the main characters. Parr takes it a step further in writing about all kinds of people in our world. It's important for all children to see themselves in books like these from an early age, so they know they can be somebody, and it encourages them to continue their reading! Some of my favorites include: [[nid:6006]][[nid:6009]]
Something else Parr writes about loving is our Earth. In The Earth Book, children can learn simple ways of recycling, conserving water, and other means of taking care of our planet. [[nid:6008]]
When we read books with our children from an early age that have positive reinforcement and encouragement, we can build our children up to be the best that they can be. When we teach love (for everyone and everything) from such an early age, children can grow into adults that love, regardless of who or what it is. [[nid:6007]]
Let's encourage our future generations to be who they want to be and love everyone, what do you say?[[nid:6005]]
Hats off to you, Mr. Parr, for making this world a better place with your incredible books. Thanks for loving us all.
