Books to Screen in 2023
White House Plumbers
Release date: March
Starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux, this five-episode limited HBO series tells the story of Nixon’s Special Investigations Unit. Known as “the Plumbers” because they were tasked with dealing with leaks (to the press), their unethical activities eventually led to Watergate.
Oppenheimer
Release date: July
This story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, “father of the atomic bomb," is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer. Other members of the star-studded cast include Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, and Kenneth Branagh.
Dune: Part 2
Release date: November
I liked Part 1 much more than anticipated, so can’t wait for Part 2 and additional cast members Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux.
The Color Purple
Release date: December
This version is actually an adaptation of the musical version of The Color Purple, with a cast including Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Ciara, Colman Domingo, and Jon Batiste.
