Chase Caudill wants you to get your game on.

He’s the soft-spoken, play-obsessed library employee behind NPL’s Board Game collection, which launched out of the Main Library in 2021 as a 30-game offering and has since become one of Nashville’s faves.

When it comes to this collection, the name of Chase’s game (get it?) is more, more, more.

That’s why, thanks to recent historic investments by Mayor O’Connell and Metro Nashville, NPL has expanded the Board Game collection to 440 titles.

Expanded collection helps to bring more Nashvillians together.

They cover everything from Sorry! to Settlers of Catan and are available at 11 locations: the Main Library and branches at Bordeaux, Donelson, Edgehill, Edmondson Pike, Goodlettsville, Green Hills, Hadley Park, Hermitage, Looby, and Madison.

For Chase and so many others, borrowing a free board game saves money; it also brings people together in some beautifully quirky ways.

For example, people of all types have gravitated toward one of Chase’s favorites, a classic horror game called Betrayal at House on the Hill.

“Board Games can be like a third space in a box,” he said. “… changing a regular room in your home into a purposeful place for friends and family to gather.”

Learning a board game is also about learning what Chase calls “social literacy”: friendly competition, taking turns, and co-existing in the same space with a group of people.
