Spooky Books: Not Just for Halloween

October 25, 2015

If you visit your local library this week and hope to find books about Halloween, chances are you will not find many!

Below is a list of books that are great for Halloween, without 'Halloween' in the title. They deal with monsters, vampires, and other creepy things, on a kids’ level. Don’t worry! These books aren’t really scary, so most children will enjoy.

Spooky Books

What could be better than a story about a little vampire girl who wants to be a ballerina? Nothing of course! This is a great choice for the little ones who live princesses as well as the anti-princess crowd. Parents might be a fan of the really cool retro style art!

BEWARE OF CRANKENSTEIN! Do you have a Crankkenstein in your life? Chances are you do! This story will bring a smile to the crankiest of kids!

Miss Terri's favorite! The monster in this story is the cutest, cuddliest monster ever! Other great choices in this series are There's an Alligator Under My Bed and There's a Nightmare in my Closet.

Little Monster spends a day at work with his father and ... cute hinjinks ensue!

Election season is here and Monster is ready to vote! But why cast your ballot when you can run for president instead? With speeches, debates, and a soapbox or two, Monster's newest tale is a campaign encouraging kids to take a stand and fight for what they believe in. Check out all of the Monster books by Paul Czajak because they're equally as fabulous.

Miss Terri has worked at three different branches of Nashville Public Library since 2002. She's currently the head of the Children's Department at the Green Hills Branch Library. When she isn’t working, she is usually hanging out with her dog Boo. Isn’t he cute?
