Check Out These Resources to Help You Wrap Up the Back-to-School Season
Get in the Back to School Groove with NPL: High Schoolers Edition
The alarm is going off way too soon. The kiddos don’t want to get out of bed. There’s no time for a big breakfast, so it’s cereal and bagels … yet again. Traffic’s a nightmare, and you’re running late. You screech into the school drop-off line, on two wheels and with three minutes to spare.
Happy back to school, everyone!
We get it. Heading back to the classroom can be an exciting time for you and your family, but it can also be incredibly stressful.
And we’ve got your back.
We’ve put together some resources to help make your back-to-school season a little bit easier and help you get the most out of these early days in the school year.
Today, we’re sharing some resources that are perfect for our high school students.
School libraries are great. And — call us biased — as librarians, we think one of the hallmarks of a great school is a well-stocked school library.
Actually, you know what? Go ahead and call us very biased. We love our local school libraries so much that we share our catalog of two million-plus books, research databases, curriculum resources, and other materials with more than 86,000 Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) students, educators, and school librarians.
They go to their school library to browse and borrow from NPL’s catalog and get their items during daily weekday deliveries to campus.
And, guess what: your MNPS student ID number doubles as your library card number!

Peterson's Test and Career Prep
No matter how you slice it, high school is an interesting time. You might get your first job; you might get your first car. But you definitely need to decide what to do after you graduate!
That last one’s a little more complicated, to say the least. One of those complications is determining if college is the right fit for you and if you can score high enough to go where you want.
We can help with that last bit. Peterson's Test and Career Prep features study resources and full-length, timed practice tests for the ACT, SAT, PERT, THEA, and more.
To access it, just head on over to our Databases page.
Interested in writing and producing your own songs? Learning to 3D print? Making your own movies?
We’ve got something to help with that. It’s called Studio NPL.
This interactive technology space is catered to teens who want to engage with music, video, photography, design, and more, all under the mentorship of a working professional in these fields.
Whether at our Main Library campus or one of our satellite studios, we’ve got plenty of opportunities for you to stretch your creative wings while you learn something new and make something awesome.
Is there any day of the week more glorious than Saturday? It’s the end of the week, school is done, and you’ve got a whole two days before you have to push a pencil again.
With that being said, Saturdays can bring their own — good-to-have but nevertheless — problem: boredom.
And wouldn’t you know it? We’ve got the perfect solution.
