Pink Reads to Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 9, 2025

Fall is my favorite time of year. Somehow, we always manage to survive the face-of-sunness of summer. Then when the air cools off and the leaves start to turn, we get a chance to enjoy nature again. October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and their color is pink. So to celebrate and educate about breast cancer, this month I am sharing the best of the pink reads I’ve found. Get comfy because pink is a very popular color for romance reads and there are a lot of good books here.

Ok. This book is about a torrid summer affair and I will admit that I read it on my summer vacation. However, that does not mean that you cannot enjoy it in the deliciously cool fall. Basic premise: Maya is forced to attend her brother’s wedding in Sicily (the horror, right?). But his best friend, Conor, will be there and she has had a crush on him for most of her life. She thought they were friends, but after admitting her feelings ten months ago, he decided he was too old (just 15 years) for her and they haven’t spoken. That won’t be awkward at all. I love Ali Hazelwood and I will read anything she writes. Her characters are always super smart (like, Jeopardy smart) and this one is no exception. If you need a little summer romance for your fall break, you can’t go wrong here.

I love Lucy Score. She is one of those authors that when I find a book of hers, I always read it. Even if, as in this case, it is 550 pages long. But that’s ok because this one is set in the world of fashion, which also something I enjoy. For me, this one felt a lot like Ugly Betty. Ally is a down on her luck server who gets fired when hot guy Dominic gets mad at her pepperoni placement on his pizza. But when his mother - who owns a huge fashion magazine - finds out, she offers Ally a job. The author claims that this was inspired by The Devil Wears Prada, which is also good, but I still say it is more Ugly Betty. If you like fashion and grumpy, hot bosses, this one is for you. This is a stand alone but Lucy has lots more great reads, some series, some singles if you are intrigued.

Somehow, and I don’t remember the exact details, but I stumbled onto B K Borison as a writer. I started with her Lovelight Farms books that are set on a Christmas tree farm because who doesn’t love books set on Christmas tree farms? This one is her latest and right now it is a stand-alone, but it looks to be the first book in her new Heartstrings series. One night, Lucie’s daughter calls into the a romance radio show for advice about her mom’s love life or lack there of. When everyone in the greater Baltimore area falls in love with Lucie and her daughter, she joins the show, looking for love. I enjoyed this one. My only complaint is that I didn’t love the radio call-in aspect. Who has a radio show anymore? I would’ve made it a podcast from the get go. That said, this was still a good read and I look forward to seeing where this new series goes.

This is the kickoff to a series that I am looking forward to. For some reason, I thought this was by Lucy Score. It’s not, but it reminds me a lot of her writing. Ford Grant is the World’s Hottest Billionaire, but he can’t deal with the fame, so he retreats to a favorite small town. His best friend’s sister, Rosie just lost her job under shady circumstances, so she’s home too. They’ve been friends forever, but maybe they were supposed to be more. I haven’t read Elsie Silver before, but I liked this one so much, I’m going to go back and read her other series (Chesnutt Springs and Gold Rush Ranch) as well. So excited to find a new author that I can dig into.

The first book I read by this author was about weather girl - so you know I was hooked. Each one of her four current offerings has been highly enjoyable. And this one is no exception. Dani is a bit lost in life - no job, no boyfriend, and no idea what she wants to do with herself. In her quest she applies to a start-up job in Amsterdam. But things across the pond aren’t as great as she was hoping. That is, until she runs into her high school crush and former exchange student, Wooten. I know it sounds a little far-fetched, but I really liked this. Now I kinda want to go visit the Netherlands.

I found this one on the new shelf at Main and because I was working on a pink cover post, I knew it had to come with me. I have been a Meg Cabot fan for a long time. She is one of the OG romance writers, having penned a little series called The Princess Diaries. Perhaps you heard of it? This one is nothing like that, but I enjoyed it just the same. Lady Caroline sees her fiance cheating with another woman and decides that she has no idea how to make a man love her. So she asks local rake, Braden Granville, to educate her. I really enjoyed all of these characters and there were side stories woven in that made me not want to put this one down. If you enjoy the Bridgerton series, this is definitely a must read

I like Emma Lord. Her books are sneakily good. June was dumped very publicly and very shockingly on TV. A meme of her even became known as “Crying Girl.” Fun. Levi was also dumped by his girlfriend who immediately started dating the World’s Sexiest Man. After these two high school friends went home to regroup, they concoct the plan to start fake dating and become known as The Revenge Exes. This story was enjoyable. I think the second half was better than the first. I chose to listen to the audio, but NPL also has this in print, so choose your own adventure and jump in.

Ok friends. I told you there were a lot, but if those weren’t enough for you, check out the You May Also Like section for a couple more. And if you have questions about breast cancer or are looking for information about how you can get early screenings, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Happy pink reading…
