Catalog Upgrade Makes Your Browsing Experience Even Better
Our Online Catalog is Changing a Bit, and That’s Good News for You
Starting Thursday, November 12, you will experience Nashville Public Library's improved catalog.
What does this mean? In short: a much richer browsing experience for you.
In addition to a modernized site design, we’re implementing some new features that make browsing and finding new favorites even easier.
Here are some of the changes you should definitely check out.
Freeze Holds
The option to “freeze holds” allows you to set a date to make your hold available for pickup. When you freeze a hold, although you will continue to progress to the top of the queue, your hold won't fill until the date you specify — a perfect option if you’re reading through a series over several weeks or won't have time to enjoy all your items if too many become available at once. Please note: your holds can only be frozen if you request it before they're available for pickup.
Search Digital Collections
You can now find items in NPL’s Digital Collections, including Special Collections and the Metro Archives, directly in the catalog using the search and “Explore More” options. To search our digital collections, select “NPL Digital Collections” from the dropdown menu in the search bar.
More Search Customization Options
More ways for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. For example: you can now search for selections added in a specific time frame, such as “Kids' books, added in the last two months.”
You can also save your favorite searches.
And More
An improved Spanish language interface, with additional options to customize what displays in English, Spanish, or both.
New features to help you discover NPL’s non-materials services right in your catalog search results.
Improved spelling suggestions so that beginning readers can learn and find what they want at the same time.
Seamless Transition for You
Rest assured, your account — including your PIN, saved pickup locations, reading history, lists, and purchase suggestions — will remain the same. Additionally, you can opt out of recording your reading history altogether, if you choose.
