Library Concierge Serves Up Curated Book Lists Just For You

A cup of to-go coffee and a library book on a cafe table outside Nashville's Main Library downtown.

Finishing a book — one you’ve truly connected with — can be bittersweet. The only antidote, of course, is to dive into another one. But finding your next great read can be daunting. Good thing Nashville Public Library created the Library Concierge program.

Just fill out a short online questionnaire, selecting the category of book you’re interested in, the format you prefer (print, e-book, audio, etc.), and your local branch location.

Then, provide a few details on the genres and topics you are interested in and the type of reading experience you’re hoping for. You’ll be matched with a library staff member specializing in your interests, no matter how specific.

For example …

  • Do you enjoy dark (but not too dark) crime dramas with a female protagonist set in far-flung places (preferably Ireland or Scotland)?

  • How about something in the sci-fi “solar punk” genre, where eco-warriors build a post-apocalyptic sustainable society?Holds shelf with books waiting to be picked up.

  • Or maybe you’re looking for a Regency-era love story with a vibe that is more Colin Bridgerton and Penelope than Mr. Darcy and Lizzy.

Drawing from personal experience (and a bit of research), your Library Concierge will curate a list of books that ticks all your boxes. They’ll also suggest authors and book clubs you may want to explore.

There’s no AI involved – just real readers recommending really good books, especially for you.

NPL’s Library Concierges will even pull your selections and have them waiting on the hold shelf at your local branch, for easy pick-up.

The key to consistent reading is always having your next book waiting in the wings.

So, what are you waiting for?
